FRAZEE — The Perham girls softball team won two of three games at Saturday’s Frazee tournament.

Perham shutout Pelican Rapids 12-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game. Starting pitcher Allie Doll threw five shutout innings, fanning five and walking a pair. Doll and Tina Schmitz each scored three runs to lead the offense.

Perham also defeated D-G-F 4-2 in a revenge game. The Rebels ended the Yellowjackets’ season in last year’s playoffs.

Morgan Byer hit an RBI double in the fifth inning to put Perham ahead for good.

A Perham rally fell short against the host Hornets in a 10-6 loss.

Perham trailed 10-1 going into the final inning. The Jackets scored five times and had the tying run at the plate but left the bases loaded to end the game.

Mara Leslie took the loss pitching six innings, allowing 10 runs, six earned, on nine hits. Leslie struck out 11 batters and walked six.

PERHAM — Staples-Motley swept Perham Tuesday by scores of 14-5 and 10-6.

The Cardinals tagged Doll and Leslie with the pitching losses.

Staples-Motley blew open a tight 5-4 game after five innings in the 14-5 opening game.

Trisha Kawlewski had a big game at the plate for Perham going 3-4 with a double. Doll was 1-3, and made her one hit count with a home run.

Perham stranded 10 baserunners in the 10-6 loss.

Leslie, an eighth-grader getting some valuable varsity time on the rubber, pitched a complete game in the loss. She struck out three, walked seven and allowed 11 hits.

All five games were played in less than ideal weather conditions, with moisture and plenty of wind.
