Speaker to share Lincoln's Gettysburg Address at ITOW
Dale Blanshan will return to the ITOW Veterans Museum on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. to present, "Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg."
This month marks the 147th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, one of the greatest speeches in American history.
Utilizing documents, stories and photographs from the 1860s, Blanshan will lead an exploration of the Battle of Gettysburg, beginning with the circumstances that led to it and concluding with Pickett's famous charge.
The program follows Lincoln to Gettysburg, where he had been invited to follow the two-hour speech of noted orator Edward Everett with a few remarks in dedication of the new cemetery.
Blanshan describes himself as a slightly aging gentleman with a penchant for stories and music from days gone by. For this event he will appear in period costume.
This event is free and open to the public.
The ITOW Veterans Museum is located at 805 West Main in Perham.
