Speicher, McClellan Harrier champs

PERHAM — Two former Perham state champion runners took top honors at Saturday’s Harrier Half Marathon and 5K.

The race is a fundraiser for the Perham Cross Country program as the team prepares to open the season Monday, August 26 at Moorhead.

Brady Speicher was the overall Half Marathon champion in a time of 1:18:30, setting a six minute per mile pace. Speicher also won last week’s Dent Daze 5K.

Maddie McClellan broke her own course record and cruised to the Women’s Half Marathon title in 1:22.41. She was seventh overall. Her former record was 1:27:34 set in 2012.

In the 5K, Park Rapids’ Isaac Overmyer won the mens’ race in 18:06.

Perham’s Caitlin Covington won the women’s race finishing 12th overall with a time of 22:54.
