St. Cecilia Trio performance at Trinity Lutheran in New York Mills Sept. 18
The St. Cecilia Trio will hold a concert on Friday, Sept. 18, 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. The event is sponsored by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. Admission is $15 at the door or $12 in advance from the Cultural Center (218-385-3339).
The Saint Cecilia Trio is in its 10th year of performing classical chamber music in central Minnesota. The trio started in 1999 with the goal of exploring the classical repertoire for flute, cello and piano. This combination of wind, string and percussive instruments produces a unique sound. The group has performed much of the existing repertoire for this combination of instruments - ranging from the Baroque trio sonata to several commissioned pieces by contemporary composers.
The trio features original members Lisa Winter on flute and Peter Kirchner on cello. Jackie Tellers joined the trio in 2007 on piano.
All three trio members participate in worship music in their respective churches and thus St. Cecilia, as the patron saint of musicians, is an appropriate name. Lisa Winter teaches German and English at Wadena High School. Peter Kirchner is a priest in Glenwood and Jackie Tellers teaches at St. Anne's elementary in Wadena and has a private piano studio.
Admission is $15 at the door or $12 in advance from the Cultural Center, 218-385-3339.
