Bigger and better is how planners are describing this year’s St. Henry’s Area School Fun Fair.

The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, at the Perham Area Community Center.

“During the past couple of years, we’ve been able to raise close to $50,000 at each of the Fun Fairs,” said St. Henry’s School Principal Jason Smith. “Many people coming together, as volunteers, make this happen.”

The Fun Fair is the biggest fundraiser of the year to assist with the education of students from kindergarten through sixth grade at St. Henry’s Area School in Perham.

“This is a fun time for the entire family,” said Smith. “We’ve been holding this event for close to 30 years, and the committee knows what works best.”

This year, raffle prizes total 105. The top prize will be a set of pine glider chairs, made by Kratzke Swings of Dent.

A live auction will begin at 2:30 p.m., coordinated by Bachmann Auctioneers. The highest bidder for one of the selections will accompany Jason and Lisa Smith to a Twins game. The two guests will also be entitled to food and beverages at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis, during the game.

Other live auction items include, but are not limited to, 16 dancing lessons, a two-day ice fishing package, Disney World passes and more.

“Fun Fair attendees will have many selections from which to choose,” said Smith.”

Among the various silent auction selections will be Chanhassen Dinner Theater tickets, area water park passes, get-away packages, food and restaurant certificates, athletic equipment and apparel, made in Minnesota products (quilt baskets, vases and others), and items made by grade school students at St. Henry’s.

People of all ages will not go away hungry. Food selections will include barbecues, hot dogs, turkey sandwiches, chips and bars for dessert. Bingo also is on the agenda.

Founded in 1883, St. Henry’s Area School is a Minnesota accredited Catholic school for grades kindergarten through six.

The school defines itself as a faith community of students, parents, staff and parishioners committed to developing Christian values while promoting academic excellence.
