SteVelly's is now officially open at Perham Lakeside Golf Course.

The steak and seafood restaurant formerly known as Mulligan's has undergone a name change and a face lift, and will soon be offering a few new menu items, as well. But fans of the former, have no fear - SteVelly's will continue to offer all the same favorite food items as always, and hasn't lost its casual dining feel.

"It was a lot of work, but it worked out pretty well," said Steve Lund, co-owner of the restaurant. "It looks really nice."

Over the course of 17 days, Steve and his wife and fellow owner Shelly (hence the name SteVelly's), along with their staff, worked on some interior upgrades. They repainted the walls in warm, contrasting colors, put in new carpet and replaced the sports-themed wall decor.

"We're pretty excited," said Steve. "We look forward to serving everybody."

Already, the restaurant has been busy. SteVelly's opened at noon last Friday and jumped right into business, hosting an awards ceremony for KLN Enterprises. The next day, a belated Christmas party was held there.

"We had a really great opening weekend," said Steve.

Larger parties and events, as well as meetings, keep the restaurant busy through the winter season. Once the weather warms, foot traffic increases - not just from golfers at Lakeside, but from everyone. While some people have the misconception that SteVelly's is a private, club-only restaurant, Steve said, it's always been open to the public - and will remain so.

The Lunds are not new to the restaurant business. They had prior experience as managers at Mulligan's, and, most recently, the pair owned and operated SteVelly's in Battle Lake. When the opportunity arose to return to the Lakeside restaurant, they found it hard to resist.

They got a good deal on the restaurant, Steve said, and they wanted to work closer to home, within their own community.

Residents of Perham since 1994, "We really love the area," Steve said. "It's a beautiful place."

SteVelly's offers a full bar and restaurant, seasonal patio seating and a large banquet hall for weddings, anniversaries and other large group functions. It opens at 11 a.m. every Tuesday through Saturday and stays open into the late evening.
