Stigman to play college baseball at Bemidji State University

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University head baseball coach Tim Bellew announced his NCAA regular signing period class Friday, as he inked 13 student-athletes, including Perham's Jack Stigman, to play for the Beavers beginning the 2014 season. Six signed National Letters of Intent, while seven student-athletes inked BSU Letters of Admission.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Committing to BSU are 10 players from Minnesota, two from Wisconsin and one from Canada.

Pierz High School: Three-sport athlete at Pierz High School, earned varsity letters in football (three), basketball (three) and baseball (three)… Named Morrison County Record All-Area and All-Central Minnesota Conference in baseball as a junior after batting .385 for the Pioneers… Lead-off hitter, posted a .487 on-base percentage, stole six bases, totaled 18 runs and four RBIs… Also appeared in six games on the mound and went 1-1 with a 3.30 ERA… Two-time all-conference in football and helped guide the Pioneers to a state appearance in 2011, where he caught a touchdown… Member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born July 20, 1994… Son of David and Tami Braun… Proposed business administration major at BSU… Brother, Zach, is a junior on the Bemidji State baseball team… Father, David, and uncle, Donny, played baseball at the collegiate level.

Little Falls High School: Earned Morrison County Record All-Area honors as a junior for Little Falls High School… Named All-Granite Ridge Conference in baseball after he posted a .511 batting average for a Flyers team that went 20-2 in 2012, a team that ranked No. 1 in the state for most of the year… Totaled 45 hits, which included six doubles, four triples and two home runs… Added 31 RBIs and 24 runs scored… A three-sport athlete, Eckman earned nine varsity letters in baseball (three), football (three) and basketball (three)… A captain for all three sports, he earned all-conference in football and basketball as a senior… Member of the B Honor Roll all four years of high school.

Perham High School: Earned all-conference honors on the mound for Perham High School as a junior… Earned a victory on the bump to help the Yellowjackets finish third in the section… In six games played, posted a 4-0 record with a 2.10 ERA… Totaled 23.1 innings pitched… Allowed seven earned runs on 20 hits with 19 strikeouts… Hurled a complete game shutout at Crosby-Ironton April 24, 2012 after allowing just three hits and fanning six batters… Made a state appearance for his VFW team in 10th grade…. Member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born May 3, 1995… Son of Ryan and Stacie Stigman… Proposed graphic design major at BSU… Father, Ryan, played two seasons of baseball at Bemidji State.

The Beavers are idle this weekend and are scheduled to host nationally-ranked Minnesota State University, Mankato April 17 at the BSU Baseball Field in a NSIC doubleheader at noon.
