Strong winds down branches, knock out power in Fergus Falls
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. - Strong winds overnight left Fergus Falls littered with branches and knocked out power to much of the downtown area for a couple of hours, triggering alarms at some businesses, authorities said.
A roof was damaged at Stenerson Bros. Lumber Co., said a dispatcher at the Otter Tail County law enforcement center.
Pea- to penny-sized hail near Pelican Rapids and in Henning also was reported to the National Weather Service.
In North Dakota's Griggs County, a wind gust of 62 mph was measured at the Cooperstown airport.
Greg Gust, warning coordination meteorologist at the weather service office in Grand Forks, N.D., said the bow echo sys-tem also produced wind speeds of 50 or 51 mph in Rothsay and Verndale and eight miles west of Wahpeton, N.D.
