Students do share to help school with bake sales in Perham, Ottertail Dec. 5-6
An aptly named "Four in Sixth Do Something to Support our Schools Bake Sale" is being cooked up.
Perham-Dent District 549 students and staff are being asked to help with a special bake sale on December 5 and 6. All proceeds from the event will go to support the school, in the wake of the Nov. 4 failure of the local levy referendum.
The idea of the bake sale was inspired by four sixth grade girls, who decided they wanted to do their part to help their school. With the levy defeated, they set out to brainstorm an alternative way to start raising some much-needed funds for the district.
Those interested in baking something for the event are encouraged to stop by the school office and write down their name and what they will bring to the event. Baked goods and crafts are being accepted.
On Dec. 5, the bake sale will be held in the Prairie Wind Middle School cafeteria. It will start at the end of the school day and continue until people quit coming.
Then, on Dec. 6, the sale will move to the Ottertail city community center building, during the Otter Dazzle parade.
