Students from the New York Mills FFA Chapter brings home Overall Premier Exhibitor Award at State Fair
Students from the New York Mills Future Farmers of America (FFA) brought home the prestigious Overall Premier Exhibitor award.
This award is given to the chapter that exhibits at least three of four species and earns the most points by competing against FFA members from around the state as they show their animals.
The NYM FFA Chapter scored 358 points, while the second place team scored 100.
"Our students worked very hard to prepare their animals for the shows, and the results showed their dedication," said Luke Becker, FFA advisor and AG teacher at NYM High School.
The NY Mills Chapter congratulated Isaiah Bauck for winning Sheep Showmanship and Premier FFA Sheep. Leah Bauck teamed up with Isaiah to bring the Sheep Premier Exhibitor Award home for the 29th time in the last 31 years.
Becker furthered, "It was a long cold weekend, but we survived and brought home a win."
The NY Mills FFA Chapter sent thanks to those in the community who helped them make the state fair a success: Mike Hendrickx, Karen Gorentz, Don White, and Darin Bauck for all of their support.
The trophy was donated by the FFA and the National Honors Society in NY Mills. It was donated in memory of a former student, Shaunalea Huwe, who lost her life on her way to the Minnesota State Fair.
