Swimming: Jackets third at Last Chance Invitational
PARK RAPIDS -- The Perham/NY Mills swim team finished third at the Last Chance Invitational Saturday.
Team scores were Park Rapids winning with 931, Detroit Lakes second with 708, and Perham accumulated 498.
Jayden Cullen continues to accumulate wins in the 500-freestyle. His time of 5:16.92 less than a second off his best mark in the 500 this season and well ahead of Park Rapids' Jake Waggoner's runner-up time of 5:31.27.
Zach Langendorfer won the 100-breaststroke in 1:07.27, over four seconds faster than Michael Richter of Detroit Lakes in second place with a time of 1:11.58. Mark Murphy finished fourth in 1:13.48.
The trio of Cullen, Langendorfer and Murphy finished second through fourth in the 200-I.M., in times of 2:15.89, 2:16.51 and 2:30.72, respectively. Jared Olson of Detroit Lakes won the event in 2:12.69.
Paul Swanson finished second in the 100-butterfly in a time of 1:04.15. DL's Mike Okeson won in 1:03.57.
Swanson and Luke Potts recorded third and fourth place finishes in the 100-backstroke in 1:05.08 and 1:06.89. Connor Smythe of Park Rapids and Olson were the top two finishers in under a minute at 58.87 and 59.81.
Potts, Langendorfer, Swanson and Cullen had the Yellowjackets' best relay finish in the 200-medley with a second place time of 1:50.34. Individual splits were 30.06, 29.30, 27.21 and 23.67. Perham's B team of Leighton Covington, Mark Murphy, Todd Brown and Patrick Murphy finished fifth.
Their splits were: 36.03, 32.36, 31.00 and 25.25.
The 200-freestyle relay team finished third. Langendorfer, Mark Murphy, Ben Sullivan and Cullen swam 25.51, 25.10, 25.85 and 24.86 for a time of 1:40.92. Perham's B relay team finished sixth.
The 400-freestyle relay team, Swanson, Patrick Murphy, Jonathon Siira and Sullivan finished third.
