PARK RAPIDS-- Jayden Cullen nabbed the only event title for Perham finishing first in the 500-yard freestyle. His time of 5:16.48 broke a meet record that has stood for eight years and set a new Perham High School record, as well.

"We had some big time drops and the boys are looking great," Perham Head Coach Sheri Ressler said.

Cullen broke Thief River Falls' Chris Pribula's record of 5:19.77, which Pribula set Feb. 1, 1994.

Three Yellowjackets swam section-qualifying times.

Kevin Thompson and Leighton Covington qualified for Sections in the 200-freestyle. Ben Sullivan qualified for Sections in the 200 I.M.

Detroit Lakes won the team title with 635 points, followed by the host Panthers' 606. Perham was third with 561 points.

Zach Langendorfer had two runner-up finishes, both to Laker swimmers.

Langendorfer's time of 2:16.17 was second to DL's Carter Krengel, 2:12.14, in the 200-yard I.M. Chad Hofland was fifth in a time of 2:27.57.

Langendorfer's second runner-up finish was in the 100-yard breaststroke. Laker Quillan Oak finished in 1:02.37 besting Langendorfer's time of 1:06.72. Oak's time broke his own meet record. He set the previous top time of 1:02.64 Feb. 5, 2011.

Randy and Paul Swanson finished second and third in the 100-butterfly with times of 1:04.29 and 1:04.72 respectively.

The 200-freestyle relay team of Matt Shipman, Langendorfer, Mark Murphy and Jayden Cullen were runners-up in a time of 1:41.46. Detroit Lakes took the event in 1:37.96.
