Take the 'green' pledge at the East Otter Tail Fair
Visitors at the Perham fair who check out the Otter Tail County Solid Waste Department booth may find themselves signing their life away--to a "greener" lifestyle.
Reduce, reuse and recycle will be promoted with a special reusable bag giveaway, according to Jess Steinbrenner, public information and education officer for the solid waste department.
The bags will be offered, one per family, to those interested in signing a pledge to switch to reusable bags vs. plastic or paper.
July 23-26 are the dates for the East Otter Tail Fair. The bag giveaway will be for three days only, Friday to Sunday.
A total of 400 bags will be distributed, said Steinbrenner.
The family will sign the pledge, stating why they "promise to bring a reusable bag because it's the right thing to do."
Families will also be asked to pose with the bag and sign for a picture which will then be posted on the Otter Tail County website.
The county fair appearance is one of a number of initiatives that the East Otter Tail Solid Waste Department is undertaking as part of its continuing "Going Green" campaign.
