Tamarac's 2010 photo contest deadline approaching
The 9th Annual Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge Photo Contest's later deadline of September 10 gives everyone an added opportunity to submit their photos of the refuge.
It provides extra time to hike and explore more of the refuge with your camera and submit your photos to the contest. Through your participation, Tamarac is able to showcase the wonders of nature that can be seen on the refuge.
Photos are also used to promote the refuge and its message of conservation. The photo contest is co-sponsored by the Tamarac Interpretive Association, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the conservation and wise use of the natural and cultural resources of the refuge.
There are five categories, which include Wildlife, Plant Life, Scenic, Nature's Abstracts and Recreation. All entries must be photographs taken on the refuge within the last two years. Up to five entries with no more than 2 per category per person may be submitted.
All entries must be received by September 10. This contest is open to amateurs only. All photos will be displayed during Tamarac's Annual Fall Festival on October 2. During that day visitors will vote on their favorite. Contest entries will also be displayed at the Washington Square Mall in Detroit Lakes from October 11-16 during National Wildlife Refuge Week.
Judging will be completed that week and the winners will be announced on Saturday, October 16. Certificates, ribbons and prizes will be awarded.
