"It was a great day and a lot of fun for everyone," Head Coach Gary Bach said.

Proceeds from the tournament benefited the Eagles tennis team and the Wadena-Deer Creek high school athletic department.

Williams had championship point on his racquet, but pure exhaustion and a glaring lack of fitness caused his overhead to limp back across the net allowing for a return and the win for Team Hendrickx.

Third place went to Jordin and Trisha Roberts. Consolation champions were Lauren Bach and Savannah Thompson.

Other awards were handed out. The Fan Favorite was Darin Wegscheid, for his unique scoring and serving supplemented with warning yells of, "incoming!"

The Ageless Wonder award went to Scott Maki, who showed surprising speed and prowess at the net. Best Dressed went to teacher J.J. Weller, who donned a sleeveless tennis sweater and looked almost dapper on the court.

The "Johnny Mac" award, given to the brattiest player, was given to teacher Joy Cooley, who claimed every team that beat her and subsequently every other team in the tournament, "were all cheaters."

Thanks to all the players, parents, fans, and all who supported the fundraising tournament for Eagles Tennis and the W-DC athletic department.
