CROOKSTON — The Crookston Pirates defeated Detroit Lakes and Wadena-Deer Creek/Perham in boys Section 8A tennis action Tuesday.

The Wolverines lost 6-1 with the lone victory coming from Mike Paavola at No. 1 singles 6-4, 1-6 and 10-6 in the third set. Crookston lost only three games in the remaining three singles matches.


W-DC/Perham forfeited No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and Kal Salentiny and Matt Garmen defeated Shane Perry and Barney Busa two and two in the lone doubles match.

Crookston completed the triangular sweep with a 5-2 victory over Detroit Lakes.
