TERRY FRANKLIN KNIGHT
TERRY FRANKLIN KNIGHT
Terry Franklin Knight, 61, of Frazee, passed away comfortably on June 24, 2014 at home, under the care of Red River Valley Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., all at Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham.
Terry was born April 5, 1953 in Fergus Falls, Minn. He grew up in Perham where he was confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church and graduated from Perham High School in 1971. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for many years with his father, John Knight, as his scout leader. After high school he attended Brainerd Votech for landscaping. On July 12, 1975 he married Gail Martinson and in 1977 they were blessed with a daughter, Lora. Terry had a variety of jobs, one of which was in masonry and he became a talented brick layer. He worked for KLN Enterprises for the last 30 years, retiring recently due to illness. As an avid outdoorsman Terry loved hunting and fishing - something he picked up from his parents. His latest passion was fly fishing, which he enjoyed doing on the rivers in Wyoming. He looked forward to fall and preparations for deer hunting season with Ed Delany, his longtime friend. Terry met Judy Wegner in 2001 and they have been together ever since. They enjoyed many things together such as camping, traveling, bowling, gardening and their many trips to Yellowstone National Park, one of their favorite places. Terry was a simple man: that was part of his charm. He was an extremely easy-going, kind-hearted man who will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, John Knight; daughter, Lora (Chad) Zerr, grandchildren, Hunter and Kaylynn Zerr; brothers, David and Danny; sisters, Mardella, Carol, Jeanette and Phyllis; Judy Wegner, his partner of 13 years, and her children whom he treated as his own and has grown very close to over the years: Sheena (Daniel) Stenger, Donell (Cory) Ard, Kyler (Lindsay) Wegner Kami (Rick Benke) Wegner, Angela Bergeron and grandchildren, Jade, Kienna and Wesley Ard.
Preceding him in death is his mother, Marge Knight.
In honor of Terry, please feel free to wear camouflage if attending his celebration of life.
