Three Lakes Run to be held in Ottertail
A "Three Lakes Run," sponsored by Firestarters Ministries, is planned for Saturday, July 21 in Ottertail. The event will include a 10K run and a 5K run/walk.
"The 5K will start by Portage Lake and end by the Creamery. The 10K will start at the Creamery and end at the Creamery," race organizer Casady Thiel explained at the June 21 meeting of the Ottertail City Council.
The running event, which is open to the public, will be held in conjunction with the ministry's annual Gathering event. The dates for this year's Gathering are July 20 through July 29.
The city council passed a motion to approve the 5K and 10K running events. State approval will also be required because a part of the 10K route includes a stretch on Highway 108.
"For the Otter Fest parade, the state requires a permit to run the parade down Highway 108. I'm assuming it might be the same type of thing," mentioned councilmember Terry Wagenman.
It was also brought up that cones may be necessary to mark off a path for the runners on the side of the highway. An ambulance will be stationed at the halfway point of the race in case any runners require medical assistance.
The race starts at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the Creamery in Ottertail. The $20 registration fee includes one Three Lakes Run event T-shirt. Pre-registrations are requested by July 1.
To register, or for additional information, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If registering for the race, include your name, run preference (10K run or 5K run/walk), and your T-shirt size (S-XXL) and whether you'd like a men's- or women's-style shirt.
