Thumper Pond planning RV park
Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail is hoping to establish an RV park.
A representative with Widseth Smith Nolting discussed the idea with Ottertail City Council members at an April 17 meeting. He brought some plans with him to share, and said his firm has been working with Thumper Pond for approximately three years, looking into the prospect of creating the RV park.
The plan is to construct the park on the vacant property east of the Thumper Pond Resort facilities. The existing sewer and water infrastructure on the property would be used to support the park.
Gravel pads are planned for the RVs. The sites would each be 35 to 50 feet wide, allowing for plenty of room between RVs. There would be limited number of seasonal sites, but the park would provide mostly transient sites.
Detailed plans for the RV park will be submitted to the city council for approval at a later date. The goal is to get the project underway this summer. A full launch is planned for next year.
