Today is last day to send pictures for Angel of Hope
The Perham Lakes Area 9th Annual "Christmas Box Angel of Hope" Candlelight Vigil will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Angel of Hope Memorial Park.
The park is located at the corner of 3rd Ave. and 6th Ave. NE in Perham.
All are welcome to attend the annual vigil. It will be a short, simple, secular ceremony.
Candles will be provided. If you prefer to use a battery-operated candle, you may bring your own. We recommend these for young children.
All attending are invited to bring a white flower to leave at the base of the Angel Statue, in memory of loved ones.
Attendants are also welcome to bring a Christmas ornament to place on the pine trees that are lighted up for the vigil and the Christmas season.
Immediately following the vigil, refreshments and fellowship will be held at Perham Community Church, at 44664 440th St., across the street from the park.
A slide show will be done again this year. To have a child's photo included, email Dave Howey at firstname.lastname@example.org. Send JPEGs only and include birth date and date of death (optional).
Prior year's photos may also be resent; indicate any changes to prior year's photos and/or information.
Photos must be received by Friday, Nov. 30 to be included in the slide show.
The Angel of Hope Statue has become known as a place of hope and healing for anyone who has suffered the loss of a child.
Candlelight vigils are held every year at Angel of Hope Statues across the nation.
The original Angel of Hope Statue was dedicated on December 6, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Since the placement of this first statue, more than 100 such statues have become known as gathering places for anyone grieving the loss of a child of any age, for any reason.
