Both teams put runners in scoring position in the first two frames but came away empty handed.

Ottertail Central got on the board first in the top of the third when Nick Trosdahl hit a two-out single to score Marty Charest for a 1-0 lead.

New York Mills had an answer for each Ottertail Central threat and retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double by Maison Roberts that scored speedy Shane Novak from first base. Tyler Patron singled one batter later to score Roberts.

The score remained 2-1 until Charest scored his second run of the game in the top of the fifth.

Charest scored on a two-base error charged to Nick Kupfer at shortstop on a two-out, hard grounder off the bat of Trosdahl to tie the game at two.

New York Mills took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth scoring two runs on three singles to cap a two-out, nobody-on rally.

Ottertail Central starter Aaron Butler struck out Novak and retired Nick Kupfer on a pop-up for two easy outs to start the fifth.

Brandon Kupfer singled and moved to second on a walk to Tyler Patron. Patron was passed with four pitches nowhere near the strike zone.

Derik Gaudette hit a line drive over first baseman Zach Wilkie's head to score Kupfer to break the tie 3-2.

Gaudette chased Butler from the mound and Trosdahl came on in relief to face Spencer Imsande.

Imsande singled to score Patron to up the lead to two runs, 4-2.

Adam Snelgrove was beaned by Trosdahl to start the bottom of the sixth. Two successive errors, one charged to Butler, who moved to third base on the pitching change, and the second error to shortstop Dan Marso, scored Snelgrove after he had swiped third base in between the gaffs.

New York Mills starting pitcher Brandon Kupfer took a complete-game bid into the seventh up 5-2.

Kupfer walked Collin Teich to start the inning and Teich moved to third base by way of two steals.

Teich scored the final run of the game on a two-out error to Nick Kupfer at shortstop before Brandon Kupfer ended the game with his seventh strikeout one batter later.

Brandon Kupfer pitched seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned. He walked three and struck out seven to earn the victory.
