Track: Perham boys win again

BARNESVILLE — Billy Beseman, Andrew Johnson and Eli Beachy all took event titles, but Perham got points from a varied lineup missing some big names to take the title at the Barnesville Booster Club Meet Thursday, May 16.

Beseman won the 1600m run win 4:32.08, spearheading a Yellowjacket finish that placed four Perham runners in the top six. Kanyon Edvall, Tanner Monson and Nathan Coleman finished fourth through sixth. For good measure, Alex Wegscheid finished in seventh, one place out of putting up team points.

Beachy continues on a quest to return to the state meet in the pole vault. Beachy cleared 12-feet, six-inches to defeat Cody Nordquist of Frazee. Cole Schmitz, Patrick Glynn and Joe LaFond finished fourth through sixth putting four Perham pole vaulters in the top six.

The theme of four in the top six continued in discus. William Parks finishes second, Jonathon Siira third, Mark Swanson fourth and Austin Ashcraft fifth behind Eddie Ramos of Pelican Rapids winning throw of 130-06. Beachy was the only field event winner besieds Ramos, who won the shot and discus and Brett Brenden of Rothsay who won the long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Jamie Heitala finished fourth for Perham's best finish int he triple. Cole Carignan tied for secone with Barnesville's Austin Martz at five-feet, six-inches in the high jump. 

Troy Tellinghuisen (third-41-01.00) and Jonathon Siira (sixth-39-02.50) scored team points behind Ramos in shot put.

Andrew Johnson led a trio of Jackets to the top three 110m hurldle finishes. Johnson won in 17.13; Mark Huebsch was runner-up in 17.73; Nick Winkels third in 18.28. Huebsch was also the runner-up in the 300m hurdles in a time of 42.18 behind only Isaace Goedtke's 41.98. Johnson finished fourth (43.77); Winkels sixth (44.67).

Edvall added a runner-up finish in the 3200m run (10:57.28). Alex Wegscheid was fifth (12:05.14).

William Vana put up a top finish in the 100m dash with a time of 11.70, good for third place behind MIchael Whitney of Breckenridge (11.07) and Colton Mickelson of Pelican Rapids (11.67). Whitney also won the 200m dash (22.90).
