Samantha Leigh Scroth, 21, of St. Paul was with several other people looking at a boat that had been damaged over the winter at a residence on the 34000 block of 336th Avenue, about 22 miles north of Detroit Lakes.

While in the yard, witnesses heard a dead tree making a creaking sound, then it suddenly fell over, catching Scroth in the midsection and knocking her to the ground on her back.

She was freed by others on the property before rescue crews arrived.

She was taken by St. Mary’s Ambulance to meet a North Memorial air ambulance, which took her to Essentia Hospital in Fargo. A condition report was not available Wednesday morning.
