Troopers make 109 traffic stops in area, no arrests on Super Bowl Sunday
Despite the cold and windy Super Bowl Sunday, along with slippery roads, the Minnesota State Patrol along with other sheriff's departments and other municipal agencies throughout the Detroit Lakes district including troopers enforcing areas from Moorhead to Wadena and Alexandria to Mahnomen, conducted 109 traffic stops in an enforcement effort to detect and deter impaired drivers.
The campaign resulted in zero arrests. One designated driver told an officer during a traffic stop, "We heard you guys would be out, but we thought you just said that every time there is a big weekend."
It appears that people in these areas definitely got the message. State Trooper say if they can get through a major event such as the Super Bowl without any DWI arrests or crashes involving alcohol, then their goal was met.
