Truck hits power lines near Pelican Rapids
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reported that on May 16 a truck hit three power lines north of Pelican Rapids, leading to temporary outages. The incident took place at 1:07 p.m. along Highway 34.
The driver of a semi-tractor and trailer was backing from a semi-circle driveway and came in contact with the power lines, breaking them in half and resulting in smoke at a power pole near a junction box.
A crew from Lake Region Electric Cooperative of Pelican Rapids responded to the incident, temporarily shutting off electricity while making the necessary repairs.
The driver works for Valley Cartage Company in Huron, Wis., which provides shipping and warehouse services.
