Two people were injured in a recreational vehicle accident July 6 on West Olaf Lake Road, northwest of Pelican Rapids.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said the injured individuals were the driver, 21-year-old Brett Rice of rural Pelican Rapids, and a 21-year-old female whose name was not immediately available.
Alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The couple was reportedly driving home from a party, shortly after midnight, when the passenger told Rice that a dog had jumped out of the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. Rice, while looking back for the dog, crashed into a ditch filled with water.
The female passenger suffered multiple non-life threatening injuries.
Rice sustained minor injuries.
He was later arrested for fourth degree DWI and criminal vehicular operation.
