Investigators with the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force, along with the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force, received information that a large marijuana transaction was going to occur in the city of Alexandria on May 2. Investigators in St. Cloud said they learned that the suspect, Derek Michael Glynn, 22, was going to transport a large amount of marijuana along with an eighth of an ounce of MDMA or Ecstasy from his residence in St. Cloud to Alexandria, where he would meet up with another person and exchange the marijuana and MDMA for a sum of cash.

Investigators conducted surveillance on Glynn at his apartment in St. Cloud, and observed him exit the building with a large plastic garbage bag and place the bag in the trunk of a vehicle. That vehicle is owned by a second suspect identified as Aaron Lee Christensen, 22, also of St. Cloud.

Christensen and Glynn were then followed to Alexandria where investigators allegedly observed a drug transaction take place in the Walmart parking lot. After the transaction, Glynn and Christensen were taken into custody and ultimately transported to the Douglas County Jail. They were booked on felony charges of third-degree and fifth-degree sale of a controlled substance.

Investigators said the garbage bag contained about 6.7 pounds of marijuana and about 3.8 grams of suspected MDMA was also located in the trunk.

Investigators also searched the Glynn's residence in St Cloud and discovered an additional 20 pounds of marijuana in his bedroom, along with other controlled substances, thought to be to be methamphetamine, heroin and possibly cocaine, according to the task force.

Investigators said they also found $13,870 in currency in a safe in Glynn’s bedroom, which is subject to forfeiture proceedings.

Glynn and Christensen appeared in Douglas County Court on Monday.  The task force was assisted by the Alexandria Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota State Patrol.
