Underwood woman charged with check forgery
A woman from Underwood, 42-year-old Barbara Rae Vaughan, appeared in Otter Tail County District Court on Oct. 23, charged with check forgery.
Her next court appearance will be on Nov. 4.
On Oct. 17, Vaughan allegedly endorsed or altered checks, court records show. The checks were used to obtain property or services. She allegedly issued 13 checks on the account of her friend for a total of $2,340.
Law enforcement was informed of the check forgery from the rightful owner, who said her checkbook had been stolen from her apartment by Vaughan, a friend, according to court documents. Vaughan allegedly later said she was embarrassed and sorry to have stolen from her friend.
