(UPDATE) Underwood male struck by pickup in Perham dies; wife treated and released
An Underwood male died Thursday night from injuries he received when he was struck by a pickup truck on Main Street in Perham Thursday afternoon.
David Beighley, age 74, and his wife, 74-year-old Marilyn Beighley, were struck by a Ford Ranger pickup truck on the afternoon of Dec. 6 as they attempted to walk across Main Street in Perham, near the corner of 2nd Ave. SW.
The driver of the pickup truck was an 85-year-old male from Perham. His name is being withheld because of an ongoing investigation. Police said speed was not a factor.
The driver was traveling westbound when he struck the couple, according to police, knocking them both to the ground. The truck drove over David, causing serious injuries. The victims were not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. The driver of the pickup sustained no injuries.
Police said both victims were transported by ambulance to Perham Health, where Marilyn was treated and released. David was later transported by life flight from Perham Health to a hospital in Fargo, where he later died.
