Perham led by one point at the halftime break 21-20 in a game that was close throughout.

“They are a team that drives hard to the basket and creates fouls and contact and our girls totally shut that down,” Head Coach TJ Super said. “Ella Von Ruden was huge in our help defense, especially in the second half.”

Perham was down 46-43 late in the game when Scheidecker hit a three from the corner on an out of bounds play. After a steal, the Jackets held the ball for about 45 seconds and Brittany Miller drove the lane and dumped it off to Von Ruden, who got fouled with 30 seconds remaining.

Von Ruden knocked down a pair to put Perham up 48-46.

Perham made a defensive stop and Sydney Roberts got fouled with 10 seconds to go  and iced it the game with two free throws.

Little Falls shot a desperation three but couldn't get it to go on the final possession.

Von Ruden and Maria Rutten were in double figures for Perham with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Roberts added seven points.

Scheidecker led the Yellowjackets with seven rebounds. Von Ruden had six.

“It was a really good win, Little Falls plays very hard and their aggressive zone was a lot better than it looked earlier in the year. Our defense was the reason we got the win. Brittany Miller made a lot of really good plays late in the game. Tina Scheidecker played a really good game, defensively and offensively, too.”

Perham will play Class 3A North Branch (5-1) at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the championship final.

The victory evens the Jackets' record at 4-4.

Scoring:

PER 21 29 — 50

LF   20 26 — 46

PER: T. Scheidecker 15, Von Ruden 13, Rutten 10, Roberts 7, Beachy 3, Miller 2.
