USDA home loans available to Otter Tail County residents
The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development offers a 502-direct subsidized home loan program that allows very low and low income residents to buy their own home.
Applicants may purchase a new home, existing home or build a new home. Payments are based on household size and income; with an interest rate subsidy provision to make payments affordable.
To qualify, applicants must meet Rural Developments' income limits, have adequate and dependable income, have an acceptable credit history, and be unable to obtain sufficient credit from other sources and show repayment ability.
Funding is also available for very low income families for low interest home improvement loans and grants through the 504 repair program.
These funds may be used to make home repairs, install essential features or remove health and safety hazards. Household income limits, repayment ability, and credit history requirements are applicable.
