Verda C. Cole, 96, of Frazee, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham.
Verda Cleo Wang was born the daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Harrington) Wang on March 10, 1912 in Kelliher, Minn. Her mother died a few days after her birth, and Verda was raised by her grandmother, Alma Harrington. They made their home near Frazee, where she attended school and was raised.
Verda married Alfred Cole on March 31, 1932. She worked for Lakeland and Swift Turkey Plant in Frazee until the time of her retirement and had been a resident in the Frazee Assisted Living and the Frazee Care Center for the past seven years. Alfred died in 1967.
Verda enjoyed making crafts in her early years, and also knitting. She was also a board member of the Frazee Care Center Residents' Council.
Surviving Verda are her two sons, Marlin Cole of Perham and Jim (Carolyn) Cole of Brainerd; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Wegscheid of Ottertail; three grandsons; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Alfred (1967); a son, William (1998); a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Cole (2007); one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, with the Rev. Gary Klempke officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Furey Funeral Home of Frazee.
