Vergas-area pianist Rebecca Davis earns international award
Rebecca Davis, of Vergas, was recently awarded second place in the Bosendorfer International Piano Competition for amateurs in Vienna, Austria.
The 23 participants were selected by jury through applications that included an audition CD. The competition consisted of three rounds. In the final round, seven participants each performed 45 minutes of piano music.
Pianist Rebecca Davis began her studies at the age of four and by 13 had already performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra. A recipient of numerous awards, grants and scholarships, she received a coveted college level Teaching Fellowship at The Juilliard School while working on her Master's Degree there and subsequently became a faculty member in the conservatory's Pre-College Division teaching theory and ear training.
During the past few years, she has won top honors at international competitions held in Paris, Berlin, New York and Washington D.C. with solo recitals and orchestral appearances in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, and the U.S.
