Kevin James Towey, 28, of 49863 Trowbridge Circle East, Vergas, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and four years of supervised probation. He was also given sentence-to-service in lieu of $950 in court fines, and must pay $887 in restitution. If he successfully completes probation, the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor on his record.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities received a complaint from the Holiday gas station that a man, apparently intoxicated, had driven away from the station in the direction of Detroit Lake.

Detroit Lakes Police Chief Kel Keena said two DLPD officers and two Becker County Sheriff's deputies were involved in a high-speed pursuit that led to Towey's arrest at an Otter Tail County residence later that evening.

Nobody was injured in the pursuit but after Becker County Sheriff's Deputy Ty Warren tried to restrict his movement, Towey slammed into Warren's squad car on his snowmobile. There was about $1,000 damage to the driver's side door of the vehicle.
