The learning experience continues for Amy Koskela's young volleyball squad in New York Mills.

The Eagles continue to rotate a lot of players trying to find a consistent group to compete on the floor.

The Eagles dropped a match to Verndale 3-0 Tuesday before competing against four teams at a weekend tournament in Ulen.

Verndale outscored the Eagles 25-12, 25-23 and 25-19 for the sweep.

"This was the second time we tried a new rotation," said Head Coach Amy Koskela. "Game one was similar to how we've come out against all other teams. Game two we jumped ahead right away, and the girls were pumped up, which was fun to see."

According to Koskela, a few errors allowed Verndale to make a comeback and clinch the win.

"Our passing and serving has really come around since the week before against Bertha. The girls are really looking forward to facing Verndale again next week."

The girls had the opportunity to play together all day on Saturday at the Ulen-Hitterdal tournament.

"Our serving was over 90 percent until tournament play, which is phenomenal. Our passing was pretty good too. The girls really proved to be up for the challenge against Hawley and Parkers Prairie - they were excited, having fun, putting up some big blocks, as well as putting down some nice kills."

Koskela continues to see improvement in her young squad.

"Overall, this past week we've made some great improvements with passing and serving. Now our biggest challenge is to work on consistency of hitting and everything else."
