In the first full week of the summer baseball season, Perham's Post 4020 VFW team was doing the splits. Well, not literally.
The Stingers had three league doubleheaders, and they split all three.
They opened the season last week going 1-1 against Bemidji. They followed that up last Wednesday splitting at D-G-F.
Perham dropped the first game as D-G-F hit three homers in a 12-2 win in five innings.
The Stingers bounced back in game two with a pair of homers themselves in a 10-5 win. Perham trailed 4-3 when they scored four runs in the fifth inning. They added three insurance runs in the seventh.
Richard Hoffman pitched a complete game to earn the win.
On Saturday, Perham split another doubleheader with East Grand Forks. The Stingers won the first game, 10-5. They dropped the second, 7-6.
The two teams will finish off their season series in East Grand Forks on June 24. The doubleheader will start at 3 p.m.
Post 4020 (3-3) will make-up a doubleheader with Fergus Falls on Monday, June 22. The first game will start at 2 p.m. at Krueger Field. The game was scheduled to be played on June 12, but was moved because of Fergus Falls' run to the State Class AA Championship game in St. Cloud last week.
