It was a short window of opportunity for people to see an exciting exhibit featuring the creative work of students in grades 9-12 from 14 high schools in the region.

Thursday (April 18), will be the Visual Arts Festival, when more than 140 students will converge in New York Mills for an awards ceremony and art workshops conducted by five professional artists.

Submitted artwork will be judged by seven professional artists from the region. The scores will be averaged and winners will receive Minnesota State High School League certificates identifying their achievements as Excellent to Superior. The top winner in each art medium will go on to statewide competition. The top winners at state will have their artwork displayed in the tunnels connecting the government buildings in Washington, D.C.

The cultural center gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
