Wadena wellness and research center to break ground
A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for the new Maslowski Wellness and Research Center in Wadena.
The $12.4 million project will break ground on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., at the construction site just north of Wadena-Deer Creek Middle and High School.
The ceremony is open to the public and refreshments will be served. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the school gymnasium.
The Maslowski Wellness and Research Center will feature:
-State-of-the art Aquatics Center with recreational/waterslide area, lap pool swimming area and a warm-water therapy pool with wheelchair access and a whirlpool, sauna, steam room and locker rooms.
-Fitness area with dedicated weight machines and cardiovascular equipment and fitness education rooms. A walking track will encompass the area.
-Gymnasium to provide basketball, volleyball activities as well as potential trade-shows or other events.
-Racquetball courts for wallyball, racquetball or fitness classes.
-Community rooms to host conferences and serve the needs of the community.
-Research Center focusing on wellness and health risks, done in conjunction with Tri-County Health Care.
The project is expected to be complete in about one year.
