Wadena woman listed in critical condition after head-on crash
A Wadena woman was listed in critical condition Saturday morning following a head-on crash in Otter Tail County.
Kimmy M. Hershberger, 40, of Wadena was southbound on Highway 29, just north of County Road 14, when another vehicle lost control on the icy roadway and hit her car head on.
The accident occurred when a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado slowed to avoid a deer, then accelerated after the deer went past and lost control on the icy roadway, skidding into the southbound lane and colliding with Hershberger's 1997 Saturn SC2 Coupe.
The Silverado was driven by Wayne E. Paulsen, 41, of Glenwood, who suffered no apparent injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash was reported at 7:31 a.m. on icy black-top. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
