Weather, lack of sleep lead to crashes
Freezing rain late last Friday, followed by snowfall the following day, resulted in many accidents across Otter Tail County. The sheriff’s office shared a lengthy accident report on March 11.
Officials said sleep deprivation due to Daylight Saving Time was also a contributing factor: statistics show that traffic accidents increase eight percent just after turning the clocks ahead. Several minor accidents took place over the weekend along Interstate 94 near Dalton, Fergus Falls and Rothsay, in southeastern Otter Tail County. Other road mishaps took place near Pelican Rapids, Perham, Henning and along County Road 1 near Otter Tail Lake. No serious injuries were reported as a result of these accidents.
