Winter storm threat Prompts new date for 'Friends of Friends' Food shelf fundraiser

Due to the winter storm threat over the weekend of Jan. 23-24, the Ottertail-based "Friends of Friends" have postponed the annual food shelf fundraiser to next weekend January 30 at the Big Wood Event Center Fergus Falls.

The second annual "Friends of Friends" Fundraiser to Fight Hunger was originally planned for Thumper Pond Jan. 23. But the venue and date has now been changed to The Big Wood Event Center/Best Western, 925 Western Avenue Fergus Falls.

The cost is $50 per ticket, which includes a meal and drink tickets, silent auction and live auction.

Later in the evening, the "Shakers" band will be performing.

Last year, the event raised $23,000 to fight hunger. This year's goal has been increased to $30,000. All proceeds are donated to Otter Tail area food pantries.

To purchase event tickets or give a donation, contact Kathy Bope at 218-847-3151.

Bus transportation to Fergus Falls will be provided from the Ottertail area, leaving from The Otter at 5:15, which will bring guests to Fergus Falls. For information about the bus, call Rob and Kathy Bope at 367-3640.
