Woman accused of driving drunk with three children in the car
An Ogema woman has been charged in Becker County District Court with three counts of child endangerment and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
Jeanna Marie Fineday, 29, is accused of driving drunk with her three minor children in the car.
According to court records, during the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 6, the Becker County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an allegedly intoxicated driver going into the ditch and that there were children involved.
A relative came to the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival and discovered three children, ages 5, 2, and 10 months, were inside the vehicle. She took them back to her home and contacted law enforcement.
One of the children had reportedly come out of a car seat during the accident and struck their head, before falling out of the vehicle. EMS personnel examined all three children, who were not badly hurt, according to the report.
A short time later Fineday was located, and claimed a relative wouldn’t give her children back to her. She was given a preliminary breath test which registered a blood alcohol level of .157 — almost twice the legal limit to drive.
Fineday has a prior DWI conviction from 2008. She is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting her next court appearance, at an Oct. 28 omnibus hearing. Her bail was set at $3,000 with conditions, or $12,000 without.
