Woman involved in murder plot sentenced to jail
Kimberly Dawn Ryan, 36, of Fergus Falls, was sentenced April 26 in Otter Tail County District Court on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and assault in the first degree to commit great bodily harm.
Ryan was sentenced to 43 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee. Credit for time served is 198 days.
Her sentence relates to an incident in Pelican Rapids on Oct. 4, 2012. A group of five adults and three juveniles, according to court records, took two vehicles to Pelican Rapids with a plan to obtain drugs and commit murder. The alleged plan was to retrieve stolen marijuana and drug related paraphernalia – and to make sure there would be no witnesses to the crimes.
The incident expanded to a high-speed chase and use of firearms.
Cases involving other defendants are ongoing through the Otter Tail County Attorney’s Office.
