Womenade golf tournament coming up
Womenade will be holding a charity golf tournament on Thursday, June 14. All proceeds raised will benefit students in Perham, New York Mills, Wadena, Battle Lake and Henning.
Taking place at the Wadena Whitetail Run Golf Course, this four-person scramble will start at 1 p.m., preceded by a noon lunch. The event will also include prizes, silent auction items and raffle drawings.
Womenade is an organization that exists solely on donations from two major fundraisers - the golf tourney and a coffee event held at the end of summer. Money raised helps meet specific student needs.
Here's how it works: A teacher recognizes that a student is in need of something (such as a winter coat, food, course fees or visit to the dentist) and asks Womenade to provide funds to meet that need. Within a few hours, the money is available and the need is on its way to being met. The teacher does not have to fill out lengthy forms or wait long for a reply.
The cost to participate in the upcoming tournament is $75; that includes golf, a cart and lunch.
Womenade is still seeking sponsors and team players. For more information, contact Mary Karkela at 218-280-9953.
