Wrestling: Jackets pile it on at Deer Creek

The Yellowjacket wrestling team cruised in their first dual of the season defeating the Wolverines in Deer Creek 64-12.

Wadena-Deer Creek was playing from behind before the match began giving up four forfeits to the Jackets at 145, 152, 182 and 195 pounds.

Cody Nylander, ranked #2 in AA, defeated Tony Reurink for the second time in a week, this time by fall at 2:53. Reurink in ranked #6 in Class A.

Jesse Hein anchored the team with a technical fall of Caleb Monson at 1:00.

The Wolverines jumped out to their only lead of the dual 12-9 when Sam Waln pinned Chase Curtis at 120 pounds (5:48)) and Mitch Steffens pinned Jeremiah Asmund at 2:54 at 126 pounds.

Brandon Lueders tipped the points back in favor of Perham with a pin of Devin Barthel at 2:32.

From there, the Yellowjackets won the remaining matches to pile on the points.

Perham travels to Grand Forks for the Sertoma Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10.
