Writing workshop opens for students
A writing group for all students in grades nine through 12 is getting ready to kick off.
For four consecutive weeks, writers will be meeting Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the meeting room at the Perham Area Public Library, starting Wednesday, April 13.
With an emphasis on creative writing, the workshop will encourage young writers to hone their craft, learn how to provide peers with helpful feedback and publish their work.
The workshop will be facilitated by Heidi Kratzke, a freelance writer and editor.
Sessions are open to all students in grades nine through 12 from around the area, including those in home school settings.
There is no fee to attend the workshops. Writers need only be prepared with a notebook and a pen.
The writing group is sponsored by the Viking Library System, the Lake Region Writers Network and the Perham Area Public Library. The project is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
