Perham area residents can easily wear their Yellowjacket pride on their sleeves - or their caps, or on their car windows - now that the Yellowjacket Pro Shop is open for business.

As of Monday, the shop became Perham-Dent School District's retail source for Yellowjack gear. Fans will be able to purchase short and long sleeved t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, wind jackets and pants, vests, hats, window decals and a number of other items.

The shop will be located on the second floor of the Perham Area Learning Center, at 520 First Ave. S. It will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ALC Director Fred Sailer said "we're charging very little markup" on the gear, to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

In addition to new products, the store will sell vintage uniforms, warm-ups, trophies and other goodies dug out of school storage. Sailer said these "gift ideas" might be of interest to anyone who remembers the old fashions, or who might have a relative named on an old trophy.

"We're going to 'clean out the basement,' so to speak," said Sailer. "So there's a little bit of our history here, too."

For now, all inventories are in-store. But Sailer said his hope for the future is that people will be able to place orders online and have things shipped directly to them. This will open the shopping ex-perience up to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

All products sold at the Yellowjacket Pro Shop are made with help from local businesses. Greenspire Graphics and Long Weekend Sportswear, both of Perham, are involved in embroidery and screen-printing for the shop.

Sailer said, "that helps keep it local, without us competing with local stores, while still having some opportunities here for kids and fans."

As an added bonus for customers and the school district, all proceeds from sales at the shop will go into a fund for Perham-Dent activities.

There is still more student help needed at the shop. Those interested may contact Sailer at the ALC, at 346-6502.
