Perham won 2-1 behind a strong outing from starting pitcher T.J. Studer.

Studer went deep in a lot of counts but fanned nine batters taking care of three innings of defense himself in a tight affair.

The Yellowjackets used some small ball to get on the scoreboard.

Mark Schumacher scored in the fourth inning after reaching on an error at shortstop.

Chris Ruther got to first after being hit by a pitch and moving to second on a wild pitch.

Jake Still knocked Schumacher home on a fielder's choice and Ruther scored the game winner on a wild pitch.

Studer pitched five innings, allowing only two hits, walking one and striking out nine in his final regular season outing as a senior.

Jesse Hein cleaned up the final two innings for the save. He allowed two hits, struck out three and did not issue a walk in two innings of work.

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton scored once in the seventh but Hein shut the door.

Perham managed only a pair of hits. The Rebels had four.

The victory gives Perham a 15-5 regular season record. Aside from opening the season 0-2 with losses to Fergus Falls and Little Falls, the only other stretch of games without wins was a three-game streak of losses May 17-19, a doubleheader sweep by East Grand Forks at home and a loss in the opener of a doubleheader with Detroit Lakes two days later.

The Lakers look to be a tough match-up in the second round of Section 8AA playoffs, which begin Thursday, June 2.

The top-seeded Yellowjackets face the winner of eighth-seeded Thief River Falls-Goodridge and ninth-seeded Park Rapids Area.

Perham swept a doubleheader at Park Rapids May 10 by scores of 10-1 and 2-1. The Yellowjackets have not faced Thief River Falls-Goodridge (5-9) this season.

A victory in the first round will set up a second round game between the winner of fourth-seeded Detroit Lakes and fifth-seeded Roseau in Perham.

Perham bumped Roseau from the playoffs last year and was ousted by Detroit Lakes in Detroit Lakes to end the season.

Perham has not played Roseau and split a doubleheader with the Lakers losing the opener 8-3 and taking the nightcap 11-1, behind a no-hitter by Jesse Hein in late May.

Detroit Lakes is 11-8 on the year and currently in a four-game losing skid that began with the 11-1 loss to Perham. Roseau is 12-7.

Round two will get under way in Perham Saturday, June 4, at 4 p.m. The start of the game is scheduled for 4 p.m., but reports from the team are making a possible change to move the game earlier in the day, as early as 11 a.m. or noon.

Any updates on game time changes will be posted on EOTFocus.com.

Breckenridge and Fergus Falls are the top two seeds in the south subsection of the draw.

Breckenridge is 12-5 on the season and winners of six of their past seven.

Fergus Falls has traversed a bumpy year. They enter as the two-seed, with a record of 11-9. After starting the season 3-0, the Otters lost seven straight games and nine of 12 before finishing the year on five-game win streak.

They open the playoffs against 1-15 Crosby-Ironton. Breckenridge faces 2-17 Pelican Rapids.
