Young poets at the Perham library

A group of youngsters gathered at the Perham Area Public Library on June 16 as part of the summer reading program "Be Creative at Your Library."

Ryan Johnson, Jessica Merzhlich, Morgan Parks, Tayler Parks, Ryan Shepersky, and Treyton Shepersky created two poems.

Local poet Sonja Kosler guided the young poets with assistance from Becky Stolee, Susan Heusser-Ladwig, and Betty Ziegler.

Create-A-Poem was the second in the "Be Creative" series. The first was Llama-Pa-Looza with Betsy Hietala. Coming up on Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 are:

June 30 -Get Creative! Draw on creative juices to express imagination through a book, a snack and a craft with Minnesota Extension 4-H.

July 8 (a Wednesday) Talking with Dummies- Ventriloquist James Wedgewood. Funded by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation.

July 14 - Kreativity With Kulcher. New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. Children under 7 should be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration requested.

July 21 - Making wooden bug observation containers. Minnesota Extension Gardening and Marjorie Wegscheid. Pre-registration requested.

July 22 - Imagination Collage! Learn about collage art with artist extraordinaire Carmen McCullough. Pre-registration requested.
