Zach Gabbard night at New York Mills
On Thursday, Feb. 3, the New York Mills boys basketball program will team up with the Bertha-Hewitt boys basketball program on a fundraising event to help Perham basketball player Zach Gabbard's family with their ever-increasing medical costs.
It's Zach Gabbard Night at New York Mills.
Both teams, as well as cheerleaders and coaching staffs, will be warming up in specially made T-shirts in honor of Zach, prior to the junior varsity and varsity games.
The NY Mills Junior and Senior High Choirs will be singing the "Star Spangled Banner" to kick off the night's events, with the Pep Band playing during pre-game warm-ups, as well.
At halftime of the varsity game (7:45 p.m start), a brief video will be shown to the crowd, honoring Zach and his accomplishments. Following the video presentation at the half, both teams will be entering the crowd and "passing the hat," in hopes of helping raise money for the Gabbard family.
Following this part of the night, NY Mills' fifth and sixth grade basketball teams will be showing off their skills, as they work to become varsity players some day.
Please consider coming to this night's events and help support a local athlete, as he fights the hardest fight of his life.
On this night, towns and rivalries will be pushed aside, as we focus on a greater cause. Life.
